Gili means small island in Sasak language.
There are gili Air, gili Meno, and gili Trawangan in the watery north of Lombok island. Even though gili Trawangan is located furthest from Lombok, this gili is the busiest among the 3 gilis and has the most complete facilities from affordable hostels to exclusive hotels, reasonably priced food to fancy restaurants. Trawangan has everything.
Gili Meno is located between gili Trawangan and gili Air. The most quiet gili among others, gili Meno has a small lake in the middle. Despite of being the most quiet gili, Meno also has many places for accomodation and dine as well as clear sandy beach. After lunch and prior to the second dive, you may walk around the gili, sit on the white sands enjoy the spectacular view, and find a spot as if you are having a private beach.
Gili Air is located nearest to Lombok island. Also equipped with various accomodation and dining places, you will be able to enjoy the view of Lombok and its beautiful mount Rinjani.
Diving at the 3 gilis offers variety underwater views such as so many sea turtles because of there is a conservation of sea turtles at Trawangan, reef sharks, beautiful coral reef formation, rays, reef fishes in group or school, or the small creatures such as the beautiful mandarin fish, scorpion fish, nudibranch, frog fish, and if you are lucky, you may be greeted by whale sharks.
